SAK Condemns Terrorist Attack and Expresses Sympathy to US People

Mr. Lauri Ihalainen, President of the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions SAK, Member of the ICFTU Steering Committee:

The news on the cruel terrorist attack in the United States yesterday caused great repulsion among all Finns.This attack was directed not only against Americans but against all people and their democratic rights.

The cruel attack against innocent bystanders and ordinary American people doing their jobs is entirely condemnable. There is no motive or reason which could be given in order to justify this action or even make it understandable in any way.

The terrorist attack showed the great vulnerability of an open and democratic society based on global trade. It is therefore that activities against terrorism must be strengthened all over the world.

I express my sympathy to the families of the victims and those who lost their lives in the rescue operations as well as to the entire American people.
