The Finnish Trade Union Movement - what every employee should know

Finland's national labour confederations SAK, STTK and AKAVA have published a guidebook aimed at working foreigners and young Finnish employees who have not yet joined a union. The guidebook also serves as a sound basic introduction for anyone interested in the Finnish trade union movement. The Finnish Trade Union Movement - what every employee should know is available in English, Estonian, Finnish and Russian.

The guidebook describes the Finnish labour market system and the trade union movement. It explains how the trade union movement got started in Finland, why union membership is worthwhile and how the unions operate.

All of the language editions are available as pdf documents via the links on the right. The guidebook may also be ordered by post from SAK using the publications order form (please specify name of publication in the Message section).

The guidebook Finnish Trade Union Movement - what every employee should know was prepared and published as part of the Baltic Sea Labour Network, which is a 3 year project involving 27 partners from 10 different states. The project is financed by the INTERREG IVB Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013. In Finland the Baltic Sea Labour Network involves all three labour confederations: SAK, STTK and Akava.
