Incomes policy negotiations 2004

The new comprehensive incomes policy settlement incorporates certain commitments by the Finnish government, which will take effect in the event that the labour market confederations approve the new accord. The government promised on Tuesday to cut income taxes by a total of not less than EUR 1.3 billion over the period 2005&#;82112007. These cuts will apply particularly to taxpayers on low and medium incomes.

The government has also promised to allocate increased support to transport programmes that will promote employment, to research and development, and to vocational training.

See report of 29 November 2004 for more information about the settlement
