TT, the Confederation of Finnish Industry and Employers, has recently begun to remind companies of their social responsibilities. TT has pointed out that it is clear that those companies which actively carry out their social responsibilities have a competitive edge, as this attracts the better type of worker to a company, keeping both customers and business partners satisfied whilst also pleasing the shareholders.

The responsibilities of a company consist of three areas, which are respectively, the financial, the environmental and the social. The welfare of the workforce, the standard of training, the safety of products and the issues of consumer protection, along with the sponsoring of good causes, are all elements of socially responsible company behaviour.
