This is SAK
SAK is a confederation of 18 trade unions in industry, the public sector, transport, private services and culture. These unions have a total of over 800,000 members, and promoting the emotional and material welfare of these individuals is the prime concern of SAK. SAK is the largest labour market organisation in Finland.
SAK engages in social advocacy, promoting the status and opportunities of current and future working people at work and in society as a whole. We seek to bring about the world’s best worklife that enable both employees and businesses to flourish.
History
The SAK trade union movement emerged as part of the early 20th century international workers’ movement, as employees joined forces to improve their status at work and in society as a whole.
The predecessor of SAK was the Finnish Trade Union Federation SAJ, established in Tampere on 15–17 April 1907. This organisation evolved indirectly into the Finnish Federation of Trade Unions (SAK) in 1930, and eventually into the modern Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK) in 1969. SAK is Finland’s oldest and largest employee confederation.
