Information centre for Tallinn

Mr Matti Tukiainen, the SAK Union Affairs Director, gives details of the information centre, which it is planned to open in Tallinn, and is intended to assist those who are emigrating to Finland. The aim is to provide information on the terms and conditions of work in Finland. Application for the funding of this project has been submitted to the EU. Mr Tukiainen says that this information centre would primarily be for the provision of information on the terms of work contracts in Finland.

– The information centre would also provide information on the trade union movement in general and in this sense it would act in a similar way to a regional office, although its initial function would be somewhat different, Mr Tukiainen adds. It would also, for example, offer access for job-seekers to new computer technology.

It is planned that this new information centre will be established in cooperation between the Finnish trade union central organisations and EAKL and TALO, both of which are Estonian Trade Union Organisations. The other Nordic countries have been contacted about the centre, but their views have not yet been made known.
